Opinions and Beliefs


  • Most time we use think and believe to express an opinion or a belief. Here more verbs that can we use :

 

To convince: I’m convinced we have met before.

 

To maintain: he maintains that they met before.

 

 

To reckon : I reckon that I’m going to have a job.

 

To guess: I guess he was wrong.

 

To suppose: Getting a visa is not as easy as I supposed.

 

To imagine : I imagine we did not do it well.

 

  • Phrases for expressing opinions:

 

In my opinion: In my opinion the company will collapse very soon.

 

As far as I’m concerned: As far as I’m concerned we are not progressing.

 

In my view: In my view the healthcare system is doing well.

 

I’d say that: I’d say that this song is the best ever.

 

  • To agree an opinion with somebody we use these phrases :

 

I agree with you entirely.

 

You’re absolutely right.

  • To disagree an opinion with somebody we use these phrases:

 

I don’t agree with you.

 

I’m afraid I have to disagree.

  

I’m sorry to disagree with you.
