THE SIMPLE SENTENCE

1. DEFINITION .

A simple sentence is sometimes referred to as an independent clause. It has a subject and a verb and it says a meaningful idea or complete thought.

       a. I went to the library yesterday.

       b. I speak English.

       c. Sarah is playing chess.
