THE COMPOUND SENTENCE
1. DEFINITION.
A compound sentence can be described as two independent clauses which are amalgmated by a coordinator. Coordinators are for, and, nor, but, or, yet, and so.
2. EXAMPLES OF COMPOUND SENTENCES.
a. My mother was cooking, and my father was reading newspapers.
b. The buses were on strike, so I went by bike.
c. It was raining, yet the boys were playing football.
