Quantifiers : Some , Any
Have you got some vegetables
Some disapprove of the idea
I didn’t want any more fruits
I need some pens .Are there any in your bag ?
- Some and Any are used to mean a number of , an amount of . The number or the amount remains unclear.
- Some is used in affirmative sentences and positive contexts. Any is used in negative sentences and negative contexts.
- In interrogative we use :
Some , if the speaker expects his questioner to answer « yes »
Any , when the answer is open : it can be both positive or negative.
Would you like some milk in the coffee ?
Are there any stamps in your drawer ? |
